- Most of the data/fax/voice modems I have seen do not require a sound card. Most have
- a jack to plug in a microphone. Some (like the PCMCIA card which my company makes)
- include a microphone which plugs into a connector. Most have an internal speaker, or
- a jack to plug in a speaker. However, I do not know specifically about the Maxtec.
- Also, all the fax/voice applications I have seen allow playback of messages
- through the modem or the soundcard. Also, if you want speakerphone, be sure the
- vendor says "Speakerphone" on the box.
